BUILDING
Long before European people discovered Indonesia, the big wooden ships called Pinisi, loaded with heavy goods, sailed from the archipelago of the “Spice Islands” to the Chinese Sea and the Arabic Golf.
The Pinisi Al Isra, Ananda, Al Miraj and Moana were built by a traditional shipyard on the beach of South Sulawesi to combine the culture and the charm of the last centuries with safety and comfort of the new millenium.
This is the opportunity for the modern traveller to follow the old trading routes and to discover the various island and underwater world of Indonesia.
With great effort in traditional handwork, the building of a boat takes upto two years.
Regulary the boats are maintained on the dry dock in their home port in Bira, South Sulawesi during the raining season (December until February).
